Karen Heckert, PhD, MPH, MSW

Karen HeckertKaren recently joined the Division of Health Promotion Sciences to develop and teach the postgraduate online Global Health and Development Certificate Course. She has spent nearly 18 years in international helth development with the World Health Organization (WHO) and USAID in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Prior to joining the University of Arizona, Heckert was co-Investigator and Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii Department of Family Medicine and Community Health where she managed the Pacific Center for Excellence in teh Elimination of Disparities focused on breast and cervical cancer prevention among the women in the US Affiliated Pacific Islands. She earned two Master's degrees at the University of Michigan and is a graduate of Walden University's PhD program in Health Systems.

Corky Poster, RA, AICP

Corky is a Registered Architect, a Certified Planner and the Qualifying Party for a General Contractors license (the Madrugada Group, Inc.). Mr. Poster’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna cum laude) from Harvard College (1969) and a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (1973). He has practiced architecture, planning and urban design, with a focus on housing and community development, in Tucson since 1973. He is one of three principals at Poster Frost Mirto. After 28 years as a faculty member at The University of Arizona, Mr. Poster is now a Distinguished Professor Emeritus, and has served as a Dequenesh Advisor for 6 years.

Pamela S. Lotke, MD, MPH

pamela lotkePam is our  medical director and supervising physician. A 1996 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, she spent four years at the Beth Israel Medical Center completing her residency, and is currently a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist for University Physicians Healthcare. She speaks fluent Spanish and French, is an Arizona Clinical Research Scholar with interests in family planning and contraception, adolescent health and alternative medicine. In her spare time she hangs out with her family. We look forward to her leadership and guidance as we prepare to expand our services to provide comprehensive well-woman care.

Martha Moore-Monroy, MA


Martha MonroyMartha is  the program director for thre Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) Pima County Cervical Cancer Prevention Partnership, based at the University  of Arizona, National Center of Excellence for Women's Health. She serves as the Regional Director for the National REACH Coalition Board of Directors, an organization dedication to the elimination of health disparities. The primary focus of her professional career has been working with promotoras/community health workers, and community-based coalitions dedicated to eliminating health disparities in medically under-served and minority populations. Ms. Monroy has served as a consultant and collaboartor to a variety of university, community and non-governmental organizations to include: the Arizona Departemnt of Health Services, The UA Rural Health Office, Mariposa Community Health Center, Arizona Mexico Border Health Foundation, Woman to Woman Lay Health Educator Project and Arizona Community Health Outreach Worker Association.

Kathleen Williamson, JD, PhD

John Ehiri, PhD, MPH, MSc



JohnDr. Ehiri is director and professor, Division of Health Promotion Sciences, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona. Dr. Ehiri's research and teachinig focuses on social and behaviroal aspects of disease prevention, and on global maternal, child and adolescent health. Most recently he has focused on HIV prevention, in keepin with its huge global importance.With over 20 years experience in global health, Dr. Ehiri has authored/co-authored  more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, in addition to a book (Maternal and Child Health), and numerous book chapters. He is amemebr of teh Global Health Council, Washington, D.C., The Global Academy for Tropical Health (GATH) and a member of the World Health Organization's (WHO) advisory group for studying foodborne diseases.
