Our Interns
“Our interns work like they have the best paying job in the world!”
All our volunteers are innovative and dynamic, with a commitment to excellence and collaboration with integrity. There are many more volunteers whose pictures and/or names do not appear, but know that their contributions to Dequenesh have helped us establish a place in our community to meet the needs of the under-served.
Our volunteers meet on a weekly basis for trainings, infuse the organization with their vibrant attitudes and energy, and most importantly: they show up so we can keep this “show on the road”. Their dedication, enthusiasm and passion for health care is contagious. It’s a privilege to work beside them and we have fun! To all our past and present volunteers we send out a heartfelt "thank you!"

Gabriela Huffer, Undergraduate InternMy name is Gabby and I am currently a Senior at the University of Arizona. I am seeking a Bachelors of Science degree in Physiology with a minor in Health and Human Values through the Honors College. After graduation, I hope to attend medical school and my ultimate career goal is an orthopaedic surgeon focusing on sports medicine. Through many of my experiences as an undergraduate, I have been exposed to the inequalities and discrimination still existing in healthcare today. I hope to be part of the movement which reduces and maybe eliminates these inequalities. I am excited to be part of the Dequenesh project and look forward to contributing my efforts and skills!

Genesis Florendo, Undergraduate InternI am a Junior at the University of Arizona, majoring in Public Health and minoring in French. I have a passion for traveling, having spent time in eleven countries; the most recent being a study abroad stint in Paris this summer. My interactions and experiences with other cultures has inspired me to add a Peace Corps service to my ten year plan. The combination of sustainability and health is something I strive for in the near and distant future. I dabble in art and golf, but prefer spending time listening to music, watching Audrey Hepburn films, and embarrassing myself with my friends.
